Intune Endpoint Analytics
Endpoint Analytics measures device performance and user experience across the Windows fleet.
Microsoft Intune Endpoint Analytics measures the performance and user experience of managed Windows devices across the fleet, producing scores and recommendations that drive operational improvement. It's where IT goes to answer "how are our devices actually performing?"
What Endpoint Analytics measures
A few of the key signals:
Startup performance
- Core boot time — time from power on to login screen.
- Sign-in time — time from credentials to desktop.
- Group Policy / Intune policy processing time.
- Recommended scores vs Microsoft's commercial baseline.
A device with 3-minute boot times is a productivity drain measured in person-hours per week. Endpoint Analytics surfaces it.
Application reliability
- App crash rates by application across the fleet.
- App hang rates.
- Trending issues with specific apps.
Useful for prioritising vendor escalations — "Outlook is crashing for 40% of our users daily" is actionable.
Work-from-anywhere
- Cloud identity — what percentage of devices are Entra-joined.
- Cloud management — what percentage are Intune-managed.
- Cloud provisioning — what percentage shipped via Autopilot.
- Cloud productivity — Microsoft 365 Apps deployment health.
Tracks the modern endpoint journey from on-prem to cloud-native.
Resource performance
- CPU and RAM usage patterns.
- Disk and battery health.
- Devices needing hardware refresh based on age and performance.
Anomaly detection
- Issue patterns detected automatically — a sudden spike in app crashes, a Windows update causing problems, a sudden increase in sign-in times after a policy change.
How it works
Endpoint Analytics uses telemetry from managed devices via the Intune Management Extension and Microsoft's analytics service. Devices need:
- Entra-joined or Hybrid-joined.
- Intune-enrolled.
- Windows telemetry level at least Required (not Basic).
- Endpoint Analytics enabled in Intune.
No additional agent — uses existing Intune connectivity.
What you do with the data
- Quarterly review of fleet scores — startup time, app reliability, cloud journey.
- Prioritise issues affecting the most users.
- Drive remediation — write proactive remediation scripts, push policy fixes, escalate to vendors.
- Justify investment — "20% of our laptops have 3-year-old SSDs causing slow boots; here's the ROI of replacement."
For IT leadership, Endpoint Analytics is rare visibility into a metric that traditionally was anecdote-driven. "Our laptops are slow" becomes "Our P75 boot time is 134 seconds vs Microsoft's commercial baseline of 65 seconds; the bottleneck is policy processing."
Licensing
Endpoint Analytics is included with Microsoft 365 E3 and above, Intune Plan 1, and the Intune Suite. Some advanced features (proactive remediations) are gated to higher tiers.
For Intune-managed Windows estates, Endpoint Analytics is one of the most directly useful capabilities for understanding the user experience your IT decisions actually create. Turn it on; check it monthly.
