Password Writeback
An Entra Connect / Cloud Sync feature that syncs password changes from Entra ID back to on-premises Active Directory.
Password writeback is the Microsoft Entra Connect / Entra Cloud Sync feature that propagates password changes made in Entra ID (via SSPR, admin reset, or change-password flow) back to on-premises Active Directory. Without it, in hybrid environments, a user who resets their password in the cloud has the new password in Entra but still the old password on-prem — they get locked out of any on-prem resources. With it, the change flows in real time. Requires Entra ID P1 (included with Microsoft 365 Business Premium, E3, E5) and Entra Connect / Cloud Sync configured with the appropriate service account permissions on AD.
