Shared Channel

A shared channel in Microsoft Teams (sometimes called Teams Connect) is a channel that can include people from outside the parent team — including users from other Microsoft 365 tenants — without making them full members of the team. Members of a shared channel see only that channel, not the rest of the team. Each shared channel provisions its own SharePoint site. Cross-tenant shared channels require both tenants to configure trust via Cross-Tenant Access Settings in Entra ID. The recommended pattern for ongoing collaboration with external partner organisations — preferable to inviting guests as full team members.
