Preset Security Policies

Preset security policies in Microsoft Defender for Office 365 are Microsoft-recommended bundles of anti-spam, anti-phishing, anti-malware, Safe Links, and Safe Attachments settings, packaged for quick deployment without manually configuring each policy. Two named profiles: Standard (good baseline, low user friction) and Strict (more aggressive detections, more disruption). Configured in the Defender portal → Email & collaboration → Policies & rules → Threat policies → Preset security policies. Assigned to users / groups / domains. The right starting point for organisations that don't want to design email-security policies from scratch — Microsoft refreshes the recommendations as the threat landscape evolves.
