OneDrive Known Folder
A Windows folder that OneDrive can redirect into cloud storage — Desktop, Documents, Pictures.
A OneDrive known folder is a Windows folder that OneDrive can redirect into cloud storage as part of Known Folder Move (KFM). The three known folders supported: Desktop, Documents, and Pictures. When KFM is enabled, the contents of these folders sync to the user's OneDrive automatically; files saved to the Desktop end up in OneDrive's Desktop folder. The benefit: device loss doesn't lose files, multi-device users see the same content, and OneDrive's version history protects against accidental edits. Configured via Group Policy or Intune. The macOS equivalent is the OneDrive client's Folder Backup feature for Desktop, Documents, and Photos.
