Office 365

The former name of Microsoft 365's productivity service line, still used in some plan SKUs.

Office 365 is the original name for Microsoft's cloud productivity service, launched in 2011. In April 2020 the consumer and small-business plans were rebranded to Microsoft 365, and the enterprise plans followed soon after. The underlying services are the same — Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, the Office apps — but Microsoft 365 plans also bundle Windows licensing and device-management features at higher tiers. You'll still see "Office 365" inside some SKU names (for example "Office 365 E3"), and the term remains in widespread informal use among administrators and users.
