Lifecycle Workflow
Microsoft Entra ID Governance feature that automates joiner-mover-leaver tasks based on user attributes.
A lifecycle workflow in Microsoft Entra ID Governance automates joiner-mover-leaver (JML) tasks based on user attribute changes. When a user reaches a defined trigger — N days before start date, change of department, last day of employment — a workflow runs a sequence of tasks: send notifications, assign or remove group memberships, enable or disable accounts, run custom actions via Logic Apps, request access reviews. Replaces the patchwork of HR-system integrations and PowerShell scripts that historically handled JML in larger tenants. Part of Microsoft Entra ID Governance licensing (formerly part of Entra ID P2). Often the centrepiece of automated identity lifecycle in mature deployments.
