Known Folder Move (KFM) is the OneDrive feature that redirects a user's Desktop, Documents, and Pictures folders into their OneDrive. Once enabled — typically via Group Policy or Intune configuration profile — those folders sync to the cloud, so files are backed up, available across devices, and recoverable from version history. KFM protects against device loss, speeds up device migration, and gives users the same files on multiple machines and on mobile. Equivalent capability exists for macOS via the OneDrive client's folder backup. One of the highest-impact, lowest-friction wins in a Microsoft 365 rollout.
