Fabric Capacity

The Microsoft Fabric resource unit (F-SKU) that provides shared compute for Power BI and Fabric workloads.

Microsoft Fabric capacity (often shortened to F-SKU) is the resource unit that provides compute for Fabric and Power BI Premium workloads. Sold in named tiers (F2, F4, F8, F16, F32, F64, F128, F256, F512, F1024, F2048) corresponding to a number of Capacity Units (CUs) — F64 = 64 CUs. Workloads consume CUs at varying rates: a Power BI report query consumes some CUs while running; a Direct Lake refresh consumes more; a Fabric data pipeline consumes more still. Capacities can be paused (no charges when not in use) and resumed, scaled up and down, and shared across many workspaces. Replaced P-SKUs (Power BI Premium capacities) for new purchases; existing P-SKUs are being migrated.
