EU Data Boundary
Microsoft's commitment that EU customer data is processed within the European Union.
The EU Data Boundary is Microsoft's commitment that customer data, pseudonymised personal data, and many classes of operational telemetry for EU customers are stored and processed within the European Union. It applies to Microsoft 365, Dynamics 365, Power Platform, and Azure for tenants in EU regions. The commitment expanded in 2024 to cover support data and additional telemetry classes. For EU customers operating under GDPR and national data-protection rules, the EU Data Boundary removes most of the historical "where is my data really processed?" concerns. Microsoft also operates similar arrangements for the UK and other regions via additional data-residency commitments.
