B2C

Microsoft's customer identity model for external apps — formerly Azure AD B2C, now Microsoft Entra External ID.

B2C (Business-to-Consumer) in the Microsoft Entra context refers to customer identity scenarios — letting your own customers sign up, sign in, and manage their identities to use applications you publish. Two products: the older Azure AD B2C (B2C tenants separate from workforce; mature but ageing) and the newer Microsoft Entra External ID (in the modern Entra portal; strategic direction for new deployments). Both support local accounts, social identity providers (Google, Facebook, Apple, Microsoft account), SAML / OIDC federation, custom branded sign-in pages, MFA, and Conditional Access. Sold by monthly active users (MAU) with generous free tiers.
